Our Grandbaby Crawling at Six Months

Our grand baby's in a video at five months old. Still rolling around trying to navigate himself on the couch. Getting a little frustrated because he could not do things for himself. We spend countless hours playing with him. He moves around playing with his hands and feet. Not quite able to maintain his grasp on with his pacifier. He is till in the baby stage where he depends on others to aid him. You can see the determination in his face to do more. You can hear it in his voice too.

A few weeks after this video his mom and dad came over to visit. They put him on the floor and I noticed he was crawling. I asked Cheyna "Why didn't you tell me he was crawling"? Cheyna and I usually talk, text or email each other during the week. She goes "Is that crawling"? I said "of coarse". She was so shocked. She said she thought he was just scooting around. She did not think it was crawling. What? That was so funny. She really did not know. I told her "Our baby is crawling!!!

We all laughed because we were so happy.
We love every minute of watching him crawl around exploring his new found world. He will look back at you with such a sweet smile on his face as he continually go on his little way. One word he doesn't like is when we say "No". That only happens when he goes after something he doesn't need. Then he will curl his little lips up and crawl quickly back to you with a little sad look on his face like he is going to cry. You just can't resist giving him a big fat hug.

He is getting to be such a big boy. He will crawl up to you and tug at your leg like he wants you to pick him up. He pulls up around the couch and coffee table and play as long as he can. He picks up his own pacifier and put it in his mouth. He can also hold his bottle and his toys. I can almost swear his naps are longer too. We cannot get enough of him. He is so adorable.

It took a while to get over him getting older. His cousin used to crawl up and down the staircase when he was probably eight or nine months old. It was the craziest thing you ever wanted to see.

I missed our first grand baby sleeping and snuggling with us, learning to walk, talk and all that good stuff.  I wonder if  he will be crawling up and down the staircase too?

I used to tease our daughter about having another baby. Little did we know our son would be having a baby before she would have a second one.
We are very happy to have another grand baby around the house. Alex and Cheyna say they plan to have more babies. I think that would be wonderful!! We are very blessed.

Alex and TJ's Birthday Dinner 2010

The plan for TJ and Alex's birthday was suppose to be our family going to a nice restaurant for dinner.

Fritz and I kept the grand children for the weekend.  MJ and I were out shopping Sunday afternoon when we got a call from Alex and TJ saying the plans had changed.

Alex called to say he want to come to our house, watch the game and eat dinner here. What? I'm thinking it's already three o'clock. But, since it's their birthday what can I say? If that's what they want that's what they will get.

It was shocking to me because I had nothing prepared. MJ and I were not ready to stop shopping. I was excited about going out for dinner too.

I didn't know what to serve. They were clueless too. My dilemma... should I order dinner from a restaurant, fast food service, or pick it up dinner from a deli and bakery?

My mind was going ninety to nothing. It was their birthday and I didn't want them stressing. I knew I had to figure something out . Lord knows I wasn't about to cook.

The only requirement for TJ & Alex was to stay on schedule and be at our house by 5pm sharp.

We were close to Kroger, so I decided to stop. And to my amazement what did I see? It was like I had found myself  in the land of of ready to eat dinners.

The only thing I have to is mix and match what I need.!! AHHHH Hallelujah.

Cakes, pies, all kind of cooked chicken, barbecued, baked, grilled, fried, and roasted. Potato salad, rolls, sandwich spreads, cheeses, bread, chips and all kind of drinks!!

MJ and I made it home in time to heat the food, put in serving dishes and make it look pretty. I baked beans. They came straight from a can.

Dinner was ready by the time TJ & Alex made it. Everybody was amazed how good the food tasted. They said it tasted like home cooking.

We love to have our family birthday dinners at restaurants. It's a tradition we've kept going since our children were teenagers. Their birthdays have always been celebrated together.

I remember when they were young they would say "Mom when are we going to have our own separate birthday party"? I would look at them and say "I see no reason why you should" and smile.

To this day they still celebrate birthdays together and probably always will...

Kroger please be on the look out for "Msbeamer", because the next time I need to prepare a large delicious meal I will be at your store.

Probably around Thanksgiving.

Celebrating Our Thirty-Four Year Wedding Anniversary

After a nice spring and summer of blessings. Enjoying our  family, friends, children and grandchildren.

Celebrating our son's accomplishments within the past year. His job, his new wife, and the birth of their son. Our daughter, her husband and their son who starts first grade.

We have celebrated Mother's day, Father's day, other holidays, and a couple of birthdays along the way.
We decided to do something for just us. What better time would that be than our 34 year anniversary together and alone?

At the last minute I called my husband at work and told him we need to go somewhere. Get out of town. Go to a bed and breakfast, stay in a hotel, visit a winery, whatever, just book a flight and go.

Granted this was Monday only a few days before the big day, which was Thursday. We started surfing the Internet Tuesday looking for some place to go.

The choices were complicated and confusing. We really didn't have a lot of time to think about it. One thing for sure we had to do something. Of all the places we found or even thought about going we kept coming back to our agreed preference Tuscon Arizona. We love that place.

We also remembered offers they had sent us by mail to come visit their retirement resort. My husband and I had already toyed with the idea of moving there when we retire. So, we thought... there is no time like the present to see if we could book a flight and reserve a home at the resort.

It worked out perfect because they booked us to come out Thursday the day of our anniversary. We thought this must be meant for us because it worked out perfectly.

We reserved a house for Thursday through Sunday. We arrived Thursday evening and they gave us a key along with a garage door opener for the entire weekend.

The homes are beautiful. We were impressed with the furnishings, color choices, upgrades and art. They even provided dishes, towels, soap, a golf cart and bicycles with helmets which was in our garage.

Friday we toured the model homes and the entire community.  We ordered lunch to go to from the restaurant to take back to the house.

That evening we had dinner at on the resort at wild Horse Grill . We dined with a host couple from the resort along with another preferred guest couple. It was a delicious dinner with great conversation and delightful desserts. We rated them as a five star restaurant because of the ambiance, great service and great food.

Saturday afternoon we were scheduled for golf  lessons, which was lots of fun. That evening we decided to go tour the town of  City of Denton.

We both agree we could get used to living in a secure gated community with walking trails, swimming pools, tennis courts, recreation centers, basket ball courts, golf course and a restaurant. We were busy the entire time and there was never a dull moment.

Yep, we had a wonderful time and we also discovered we're not quite ready to live in a community
that's only for senior citizens.

When we returned home Sunday our children wanted to surprise us so they came over and cooked dinner for us. We didn't have to do anything but enjoy our grand baby's.

We had baked, spinach casserole,  grilled salmon, tilapia, bacon wrapped shrimp, corn on the cob, salad, garlic bread, banana pudding and fruit crisp for dessert. They even set the table and cleaned up. It was awesome!

It was a lot of work, but our children seemed to have enjoyed every minute of it. We were so proud of them. My heart was feeling the love and joy all week from such a great family entertainment, fun and gestures of love from our children.

We still can't believe they did it. And the really great thing about it is I didn't realize how good our children can cook.
