Celebrating Our Thirty-Four Year Wedding Anniversary

After a nice spring and summer of blessings. Enjoying our  family, friends, children and grandchildren.

Celebrating our son's accomplishments within the past year. His job, his new wife, and the birth of their son. Our daughter, her husband and their son who starts first grade.

We have celebrated Mother's day, Father's day, other holidays, and a couple of birthdays along the way.
We decided to do something for just us. What better time would that be than our 34 year anniversary together and alone?

At the last minute I called my husband at work and told him we need to go somewhere. Get out of town. Go to a bed and breakfast, stay in a hotel, visit a winery, whatever, just book a flight and go.

Granted this was Monday only a few days before the big day, which was Thursday. We started surfing the Internet Tuesday looking for some place to go.

The choices were complicated and confusing. We really didn't have a lot of time to think about it. One thing for sure we had to do something. Of all the places we found or even thought about going we kept coming back to our agreed preference Tuscon Arizona. We love that place.

We also remembered offers they had sent us by mail to come visit their retirement resort. My husband and I had already toyed with the idea of moving there when we retire. So, we thought... there is no time like the present to see if we could book a flight and reserve a home at the resort.

It worked out perfect because they booked us to come out Thursday the day of our anniversary. We thought this must be meant for us because it worked out perfectly.

We reserved a house for Thursday through Sunday. We arrived Thursday evening and they gave us a key along with a garage door opener for the entire weekend.

The homes are beautiful. We were impressed with the furnishings, color choices, upgrades and art. They even provided dishes, towels, soap, a golf cart and bicycles with helmets which was in our garage.

Friday we toured the model homes and the entire community.  We ordered lunch to go to from the restaurant to take back to the house.

That evening we had dinner at on the resort at wild Horse Grill . We dined with a host couple from the resort along with another preferred guest couple. It was a delicious dinner with great conversation and delightful desserts. We rated them as a five star restaurant because of the ambiance, great service and great food.

Saturday afternoon we were scheduled for golf  lessons, which was lots of fun. That evening we decided to go tour the town of  City of Denton.

We both agree we could get used to living in a secure gated community with walking trails, swimming pools, tennis courts, recreation centers, basket ball courts, golf course and a restaurant. We were busy the entire time and there was never a dull moment.

Yep, we had a wonderful time and we also discovered we're not quite ready to live in a community
that's only for senior citizens.

When we returned home Sunday our children wanted to surprise us so they came over and cooked dinner for us. We didn't have to do anything but enjoy our grand baby's.

We had baked, spinach casserole,  grilled salmon, tilapia, bacon wrapped shrimp, corn on the cob, salad, garlic bread, banana pudding and fruit crisp for dessert. They even set the table and cleaned up. It was awesome!

It was a lot of work, but our children seemed to have enjoyed every minute of it. We were so proud of them. My heart was feeling the love and joy all week from such a great family entertainment, fun and gestures of love from our children.

We still can't believe they did it. And the really great thing about it is I didn't realize how good our children can cook.
