Our Son Getting Married

We are happy and proud to see our son get married, and glad to accept Cheyna as our daughter.

His wife is very close to her mom and hasn't seen her in a year. Within that time they met, fell in love, got married and also having a baby.  Her mom lives in Alaska and they are in constant communication with each other. She's very excited about seeing her this weekend.

I've been talking to her mom on Face book and also looking forward to meeting her. We made it to Houston Friday and met her at the JW Marriott hotel that afternoon. She was out there for business with her youngest daughter.

We all went to lunch so we could talk and get to know each other. Although she is my son's mother-in-law and I know he is probably nervous, I can't help but feel that my husband and I are being presented as part of what her expectancy from our son as her daughter's husband and father to her grandson is going to be.

Meeting someone for the first time is a little nerve wracking. It doesn't matter if it's a friend of a friend, a business associate, or someone on the street, you always wonder what they really felt or thought about you.

Will she like us and feel comfortable about us? Will she judge us and think...oh I don't know if I'm satisfied with what I see? Or, will she just accept us for who we are and be non judgemental?

We met her mom, liked her, and accepted her just like we did her father. I'm looking forward to our families enjoying our children and grandchildren for years to come. We eagerly anticipates the birth of our grandson with love and excitement!

I'll leave them in the hands of the Lord...

"Saturday With Our Grandson"

Our grandson MJ

1 1/2 years old and 6 years old.

We spent the morning relaxing and taking it easy at home because it was so cold outside. Drinking coffee and working on my personal business was really nice. My husband and I made sure we didn't do too much so we would have enough energy for our grandson because when he come he consumes all of our time from the moment he hits the door.

I was hoping we would just order pizza and stay cuddled inside the warm house but, my husband insisted we go out for dinner. MJ didn't really want go out either, so said he just want some Sonic and stay home too but, since his Papa made me to get dressed up I say we had to go to a sit down restaurant.

We went out and had a wonderful time. We notice how MJ is beginning to spend so much time enjoying his Psp's, DVD player, train track etc...that we don't get to have as much conversation as we used to. These electronic toys and gadgets for children is keeping them so entertained they don't seem to need personal attention and conversation anymore.

He has his own bedroom too, but when he spend the night he usually sleeps with us or on the couch so he can watch cable. He refused to sleep in his room because it didn't have it. Well his Papa finally had it put in there and guess what? He's sleeping in his room for the first time...with the but, with TV on...cause his mommy let him sleep with it on.(huh)

As the night winds down I think to myself how wonderful and blessed we are to have a grandson. I still remember like it was yesterday when he was still a baby, then walking and now he's six and has grown so much. He is so full of joy and love I can't even remember what it was like when we didn't have him.

We give him as much attention and interaction as we can but, I can see he is vastly becoming a little digital child.:-) Now, we are looking forward to our second grandson Zaine due to be born in April!!

"THANK YOU"

The term "Thank you" is an expression of gratitude. They are words you don't take for granted. Words that make you feel really appreciated.

People today don't seem to think about saying it though. I wonder if they think it's meaningless, haven't been taught to say it or just don't care?

Even the simplest thing a person does for you deserves a "Thank you", because they probably didn't have to do it for you in the first place. Seem like people take others for granted and don't appreciate what you do for them. It's like they think you owe it to them anyway...

Remember to say "Thank You" when someone does something for you that you don't want to do yourself...open a car door...bring you a glass of water... take you to lunch... buy you a gift, give you a personal item... or take the time to acknowledge a good deed you've done.
